Sharepoint vs OneDrive
Both Sharepoint and OneDrive are available to us and are frequently used. On the first glance, they do the same thing - give you the ability to remotely store and share files. However, they are in fact quite different. So instead of giving a comparison of their functionality, below we're going to give you a couple of examples of how both of this are used by different people in Ceataec. Regardless of how people use each of the tools back ups and coordinated file sharing functionality is used by everybody.
Ceataec Documents Structure
As SharePoint serves as a central location for all team members to store files, we have a directory structure to organise the files for easy navigation.
First Scenario
Since we store all team shared files on Sharepoint and try to be as public as possible with our communication, some of us use OneDrive to just sync the entire CEATAEC Files folder to the work laptops.
This way we can avoid having to navigate Sharepoint and click "Open in Word" (or other desktop application) for each of the files.
Same applies if you create a file inside one of the folders within synced CEATAEC Files folder - it automatically synchronises to Sharepoint.
Second Scenario
Almost the opposite of the first one. Some of us actually prefer not to have the files synced locally and work directly with the version from cloud.
So we either use Office web apps, click "Open in Word" (or other desktop application) or open one of the desktop apps first and then select file to open from Sharepoint.
